We are always looking for parents and students to assist during the season to keep the SCAA organization running smoothly. The success of our program is highly dependent on volunteers. If interested in volunteering, please contact secretary@scaayouth.org for more information.
Open Board Positions
Secretary
- Attend Board meetings once per month
- Take detailed notes during Board meetings
- Help organize and provide support at SCAA events throughout the year
- Vote on budget spending and monetary requests
Board At Large
- Attend Board meetings once per month
- Give input and suggestions during meetings
- Help keep the organization running successfully with new ideas
- Support committees at events throughout the season
- Vote on budget spending and monetary requests
Coaches
We are constantly looking for qualified coaches for our Seattle Parks & Recreation teams, as well as our ABL teams. We especially welcome all SCAA Alum to give back to the organization by volunteering their time to mentor our youth at a coaching level. Student Volunteers
If you are a middle or high school student in need of volunteer hours, we offer many opportunities throughout the season. Volunteer hours can be guaranteed for the following:
- Arriving early and/or staying late at SCAA events to help with setup and cleanup
- Overseeing the concession stand or fundraising table during SCAA events
- Providing support to organize and update the yearbook and/or slideshow
- Refereeing during the Winter Jamboree (depending on experience)
- Scorekeeping during the Winter Jamboree and/or Al Mar Invitational
- Supporting the Clinic Director by running drills during weekly Clinic sessions
- Taking pictures for the yearbook and/or slideshow
- Updating the SCAA website
Website Lead
- Create, edit, and manage pages, news, content, assets (images)
- Coordinating with the SCAA Board, Athletic Coordinating Team (ACT), and Registration team members, as needed, throughout the season to ensure that content is produced and published in a timely manner
- Plan and integrate improvements as it relates to best practices, trends, or member needs
- Knowledge of WordPress or similar content management systems
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and organize varying streams of information
- Ideal for students wanting to learn User Experience Design as a field and who have experimented with design or development informally or parents who work in a related field and have had a desire to learn more about this as a potential career
- Must have access to image editing software
- Must have a personal computer with internet access
The qualified candidate will be given the necessary training and consultation access. Time commitment is estimated to be on average 1-2 hours a week from August through April.
